Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio
Apostolic Nuncio in Poland
He was born in Marano (Naples) Italy on 7th September 1952.
He received his priestly ordination on 18th September 1976 for the Diocese of Aversa.
After receiving a Doctorate in Philosophy, he entered into the Diplomatic Service of the Holy See on 15th April 1979.
He served in the Apostolic Nunciatures in Panama, Ethiopia, Australia, Turkey, Egypt, Yugoslavia and Ireland.
On 28th November 1998, he was appointed by Pope John Paul II as the Apostolic Nuncio to Rwanda and titular Bishop of Montemarano.
He received episcopal consecration on 6th January 1999 by Pope John Paul II.
On 20th November 2003, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Thailand, Singapore and Cambodia, and Apostolic Delegate in Myanmar, Laos, Malaysia and Brunei.
On 8th May 2010, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Apostolic Nuncio to India and from 13th November 2010 to Nepal.
On 6th August 2016, H.E. Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio was appointed by Pope Francis the Apostolic Nuncio to the Republic of Poland.
Besides Italian, he speaks also English, French and Spanish.
